The San Antonio AIDS Foundation is a HIPAA covered entity. Our Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) is available online and onsite and describes how medical information about you may be used or disclosed and how you can get access to this information.

HIV TESTING
All HIV testing will be done confidentially unless the client requests to take the test anonymously. Syphilis and Latent TB testing may not be done anonymously. Under the laws of the State of Texas, testing for HIV is strictly confidential and disclosure may be made to physicians, nurse, or other healthcare personnel who have legitimate need to know the test result. Records will be handled in a confidential fashion and all personnel handing records have been advised of the law addressing confidentiality in Texas.
USE AND DISCLOSURE FOR PUBLIC HEALTH ACTIVITIES: Section 164.512(b) permits covered entities to release private health information to a public health authority that is authorized by law to collect and receive information for preventing and controlling disease, injury, or disability.
